Claire Morgan: Fall Out
Installation Fall Out by Claire Morgan
ginko leaves, 3 taxidermy canaries

Boutique Almira Sadar
Predominant in the interior of Boutique Almira Sadar is a grey-violet metal object hanging from the ceiling. You only get its construction by viewing the object from different angles. Staying right below the object, it seems more to be a graphic than a three-dimensional object.
It was built in 2003 by architect firm Sadar+Vuga.

BIG: National Gallery of Greenland
Danish architect's office BIG has won the competition to design Greenland's national gallery of art in Nuuk.
The centre of the gallery hosts an internal courtyard with a sculpture garden and opens up towards the sea.
In contrast to typically square boxes of Greenland's architecture, the new gallery assimilates to the dynamic coast.
Monument to Freedom and Unity, Berlin
"The final decision for the design of the National Monument to Freedom and Unity in Berlin has been reached: The collaborative concept by designers Milla & Partner, Stuttgart and Berlin choreographer Sasha Waltz will be realized. This concept was one of three awarded equal first prizes by the jury in the first round in October 2010. In the final round the concept now convinced conclusively. The concept is entitled "Citizens in Motion" - a message that Sasha Waltz and Milla & Partner convey in an unexpected manner. The monument is animate and is not to be approached merely as an object for contemplation - the intention is that it be entered and set in motion, movement being achieved by visitors working together as a group: The design was created in a spirit where, by means of creative action, each is enabled to bring benefit to the community and as a consequence shape society. The visitors themselves - the citizens who set the whole in motion - comprise an active constituent of the monument. The vision is that it will be a continually changing choreographic expression of the Peaceful Revolution of 1989. As the design is both aesthetically ambitious and subject to stringent structural requirements, Milla & Partner and Sasha Waltz involved Stuttgart engineers Leonhardt, Andrä and Partners as expert consultants."

John's Mobiltelefon

David Fullarton's Moleskines
I found these great illustrations by David Fullarton on one of my favourite websites: Behance Network :: Gallery
See also his website David Fullarton
I fully agree with his opinion about Moleskine sketch books:"I was never a big fan of Moleskine notebooks. They always seemed so damn precious and overpriced with their pretentious history printed inside and that fancy-dan knicker elastic to keep your place. But someone gave me one for nothing a couple of years ago, and since it was free I used it. A lot. And I have to admit I ended up liking it. Almost enough to actually pay for the next one."

Desks
Lately I found two very nice desks.
Rewrite desk by Copenhagen designers GamFratesi has now manufactured by Ligne Roset.
PLANE secretary by German designer Felix Stark with clever cable duct and storage space.
Atelier van Lieshout: Dripping World Map
Atelier van Lieshout first draw my attention to their walkable organs. In 2004 they made a wombhouse big enough to contain all of the essential functions of a house, such as a kitchen, heating, a toilet and a bedroom. Besides they designed sculptures of simplified human figures.
By looking through their website I was fascinated by their sculpture "Dripping World Map" , 2009. It reminds me of hanging bats.

Juergen Specht: Tokyo
I was deeply moved by Juergen Specht's photo taken in Tokyo. It took me a while to spot the person sleeping on newspapers. Are those piles of newspapers the person's workplace and home at once?
I am not 100% sure if Juergen Specht is the photographer of this shot. If anyone knows better please let me know.
Ueno Park, Tokyo
Lately I have seen a documentary on TV of Ueno Park and its homeless inhabitants. They live illegal in Tokyo's central park because they earn too little money to pay Tokiyo's extreme rents. They are tolerated to stay unless they move their tents when there are ceremonial occasions or offical visits. The economic crisis of 1990s has led to a boost of homeless people in Tokyo. Many people have lost their jobs and often were too proud to ask for help. They ended up living on the street. Today there are many improvised huts scattered all over Ueno Park in Tokyo.
Photographer Juergen Specht's former assistant Satoko Hashimoto documented their life style. She lived in the park for some time and got the permission to take photos of the interior of their tents. Her photos show how important it is for men to have private shelter.

Jonas Burgert
