Studio Aisslinger: FINCUBE

Werner Aisslinger's FINCUBE is a temporary and simple living unit, coping with the demands of a mobile society and its nomadic lifestyle. It is a sustainable and transportable low-enery house corresponding with the landscape of the rural area in Northern Italy.

The Unfolding Office

“A strategy of extreme density was required,” says Michael Chen of Normal Projects, who along with partner Kari Anderson handled the renovation of this Upper West Side apartment in New York.

The simple and elegant solution was to knock down most of the apartment’s walls, and concentrate all of the living space’s functionality -kitchen storage, closet, bar, bed, lighting, and office- into a single transformer-like cabinetry unit. The result is a livable and open space that functions like a much larger apartment and workspace.

Kilian Schindler - Allotment Stories

 

 

Far from the common cliché of garden gnome aesthetics young German product designer Kilian Schindler explores the peculiarities of German allotments. Doing so he composes rarely or casually perceived aspects into products that affect the beholder in both familiar and strange ways at the same time. Extracting well-known elements from their usual context and rearranging them like a collage extends their means of use to private room scenarios.

Influenced by the shapes of microorganisms of marine life, the shape of CORAL is created by a multiplication of submodules. Those hexagonal funnels are hybrids of felt and polybarbonate, allowing a comfortable and elastic self supporting structure.

Martino Gamper - A 100 Chairs in 100 Days

A chair that joins Jasper Morrison's Air Chair with a bentwood Thonet chair No9

London based designer Martino Gamper has collected discarded chairs from London streets or friends' homes to reconfiguring the design of each one in an attempt to transform its character. All chairs were shown at the exhibition 'A 100 Chairs in 100 Days' held in October 2007.

ELDING OSCARSON - Townhouse in Landskrona, Sweden

ELDING OSCARSON is a recently started office run by Johan Oscarson and Jonas Elding. The collective experience is covering both Swedish and international architecture, from museums to private houses, interiors, furniture and product design.

Jonas Elding was an associate at SANAA, Tokyo, for 7 years, in charge of the design for the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. Johan Oscarson was an associate at Sandellsandberg, Stockholm.
